MICHELLE JENSEN

TERM: 4th Term Apprentice

Tell us about your journey into the Oregon Laborers, what made you choose to become a construction craft laborer apprentice?
After going through a temp agency I was referred to the Laborers and started talking to Jani. The job I had there was done and the pay I had was not that good so I decided to jump ship and join the Laborers.

How has being in the apprenticeship program impacted your life?
It’s given me constant work. I am now able to afford more for my five kids, moving up and being more stable in life. I can now get my debt under control to start looking into buying a house later.

What advice would you give others who are interested in joining our program or are just starting out?
The scariest part is taking the first steps. After that, it’s just trial and error. Be open to communication and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Listen to your instructors, journeyman, and other higher-up apprentices that have gone through it.
